Dr. Harris also examines mentorship in Registered Apprenticeship programs, highlighting its significance and how it differs from other mentorships. The session concludes with a deep dive into the role of evaluations in mentorship programs.

Defining Recruitment Goals & Key Stakeholders – Dr. Kimberly Harris and Mr. Cori Di Biase discuss the importance of defining recruitment goals and of understanding the role of a mentor. The webinar also outlines the need to involve mentors and other key stakeholders in the refinement and execution of the mentor recruitment process and includes recruitment sources for good mentors. The webinar concludes by presenting the role of evaluation and the ongoing learning it provides to enhance the mentorship process.

Navigating Mentee Needs Assessment and Mentor Matching – Dr. Kimberly Harris and Mr. Cori Di Biase discuss best practices in assessing mentee needs. They also share the importance of aligning mentee needs with mentor experience, expertise, and identity and offer insights into mentee needs assessment. The webinar wraps up by presenting the role of evaluation and the application of evaluation to understand and improve the effectiveness of the matching process.

They begin with a discussion highlighting the importance of identifying which type of mentorship is appropriate for organizational and workplace needs (short-term, long-term, and ongoing). They also share strategies for promoting relationship resilience and the benefits of strengths-focused relationships. Finally, they wrap up by highlighting the role of evaluation and the importance of developing a monitoring plan for retention of mentors.

Supporting Relationship Retention and Growth – Dr. Kimberly Harris and Mr. Cori Di Biase close out the series with a discussion on the importance of defining expectations about the timing of the mentorship. They also explain the importance of understanding the benefits of mentorship in helping determine the duration of the mentorship (short-term, long-term, ongoing, etc.). Dr. Harris closes out the conversation discussing the role of the evaluator (external and internal) and its role in developing a monitoring plan for retaining and growing apprentices.
